Philippines’ Duterte will keep close ties with China
The Philippines relationship with the United States has taken a drastic shift since the election of Rodrigo Duterte, in addition to more changes since the inauguration of Donald Trump. Xue Li is the director of the Department of International Strategy at the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and discusses how Duterte’s foreign policy creates a “relatively favorable atmosphere for easing tension in the South China Sea.” Do you think Xue Li’s analysis is correct?
