President Carter Commemorates China’s 70th Anniversary, President Xi Responds

In recognition of the People’s Republic of China’s 70th anniversary, former US President Jimmy Carter wrote a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulating China on its progress since the normalization of relations between the US and China 40 years ago and extending his best wishes for the future of the Chinese and American peoples.
In response to President Carter’s letter, President Xi sent a letter thanking President Carter for his pivotal role in normalizing relations between the US and China, for his work to benefit the US-China relationship after leaving office, and well-wishes for President Carter’s 95th birthday.
