For something a little lighter, take a listen to Big Daddy Dough’s Beijing State of Mind.
Andrew Dougherty, aka Big Daddy Dough, is an expat living in Beijing. Here, he started writing parody raps covering Chinese current affairs, and over several years his hobby has morphed into a 21-track album titled “The Redprint: Rhyme and Reason in the Riddle Kingdom”. The full album can be streamed and downloaded at www.theredprintalbum.com.
Below is his cover Beijing State of Mind, based on Jay-Z’s Empire State of Mind, in which he skilfully captures the idiosyncrasies and difficulties of life in Beijing, and all in the space of just five minutes! Enjoy.
